Exp: I was drawing since I remember, but began to draw consciously (read: with the will to improve) after coming home from the movies. "The Little Mermaid" had made another victim. =)
Due to an 8 years stay in the legendary country named France, I was exposed to huge amounts of French and Belgian comics as well as to Manga and Anime from an early age on, which proved to be a major influence in the drawing process. The western comics were dragged home by dozens on our Wednesday-trips to the local library and held fondly (I used to borrow the same comics more than once...), the faves being "Spirou et Fantasio", "Elfquest", "Yoko Tsuno", "Natasha", "Les petits hommes", "Isabelle" and my one time fave (borrowed like every 2nd visit) "Les 5 mondes de Sylfeline" (I was pained to learn that that one has been out of stock for years now, giving me NO chance to lay my hands on it anymore).
The Japanese-style was more of a TV thing, which I enjoyed to watch at, but didn't pay much attention to it in book form for long.
I always drew things for myself, but used to 'copy' pictures out of my loot as well, improving my skills and yet never losing my personal stile in the process (or so I hope).
The constant improvement of the drawing skills can also be explained by the fact that I could always pay more attention in school when scribbling. (It seems as if teachers haven't grasped that concept yet.)
RtE is my main project at the moment, and despite having other stories trapped in my head, I'm really trying to finish this one before I get myself into the next adventure.
